Maruti Suzuki has officially launched its new mid-size SUV, Victoris, in India, aiming to strengthen its SUV portfolio after the 2023 Grand Vitara. Inspired by the Grand Vitara’s design yet borrowing cues from the electric e-Vitara, the Victoris SUV promises a combination of modern styling, advanced safety, and fuel efficiency. Positioned to compete with models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, and Honda Elevate, Victoris is set to redefine the mid-size SUV segment in India.
Modern and Bold Exterior Design
The Victoris SUV features chunky LED headlights connected by a slim grille with a chrome strip, giving it a bold front profile. The sides showcase 18-inch alloy wheels, silver roof rails, and squared-off body cladding that add a sporty touch. At the rear, segmented LED light bars and Victoris badging enhance its premium look. Overall, the SUV combines a modern and rugged design suitable for both city roads and highways, making it visually appealing to urban buyers.
Spacious and Tech-Focused Interior
Inside, the Victoris offers a tech-oriented cabin with a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, a digital driver display, and a three-spoke steering wheel. The 5-seater layout ensures ample space for families, while features like leatherette upholstery, ambient lighting, and automatic climate control make it comfortable for long journeys. Ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, head-up display, and an 8-way electrically adjustable driver seat elevate the luxury and convenience of the cabin.
Engine Options: Hybrid, Mild Hybrid, and CNG
The Victoris SUV comes with three powertrain options to suit varied customer needs. The mild hybrid petrol uses a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine producing 103hp, available with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic with AWD option. The strong hybrid variant features a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder setup delivering 116hp with an e-CVT gearbox. Finally, the petrol-CNG version offers 89hp with a 5-speed manual transmission, maintaining boot space thanks to the underbody CNG tank. All options promise fuel efficiency without compromising performance.
Advanced Safety and Features
The Victoris is the first Maruti car to offer Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). Standard safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, brake assist, hill hold control, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. Higher variants come with a 360-degree camera and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). India NCAP awarded the Victoris a 5-star safety rating, making it one of the safest SUVs in its segment.
Variants and Expected Pricing
Victoris will be available in six variants: LXI, VXI, ZXI, ZXI(O), ZXI+, and ZXI+(O). Buyers can choose from CNG and hybrid options, making it a budget-friendly yet feature-rich SUV. Expected ex-showroom prices range from ₹11 lakh to ₹20 lakh, positioning it competitively against Creta and Seltos.
