Compact and midsize SUVs ruled the charts once again, with Tata Motors, Hyundai, and Mahindra taking the lead. The latest sales data shows strong performances from all major players, but the undisputed winner of the month was the Tata Nexon, which once again emerged as India’s best-selling SUV.
Tata Nexon Sets New Record With Highest-Ever Sales In September 2025
The Tata Nexon continues its unstoppable run with 22,573 units sold last month, registering an impressive 97% year-on-year growth. Its combination of petrol, diesel, CNG, and electric powertrain options has made it the most versatile SUV in the market. Consistent updates and aggressive pricing have further helped the Nexon stay far ahead of its rivals.
Hyundai Creta And Mahindra Scorpio Lock Horns In The Midsize SUV Segment
The Hyundai Creta, one of India’s most trusted midsize SUVs, secured second place with 18,861 units, marking a healthy 19% growth compared to last year. Close behind, Mahindra Scorpio recorded 18,372 units, growing 27% YoY. The demand for both Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic continues to remain extremely strong across India.
Tata Punch, Maruti Fronx And Mahindra Thar Strengthen Compact SUV Lineup
The Tata Punch grabbed fourth position with 15,891 units, proving its strong popularity in the compact SUV space. The recently introduced Punch EV has further boosted its demand.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx, with 13,767 units, stayed steady despite minor declines, while the Mahindra Thar showed a massive 34% jump in sales, crossing 11,800 units and maintaining its dominance among lifestyle SUVs.
Hyundai Venue, Brezza And Mahindra XUV Range Complete The Top 10
The Hyundai Venue registered 11,484 units, while the Maruti Brezza slipped to 10,173 units. Rounding off the list, Mahindra XUV700 and XUV3XO performed steadily with around 9,000–9,700 units each.
