Tesla has quietly rolled out a significant upgrade for the Model Y in India, just a month after deliveries began on 5th September 2025. The upgrade increases the range of the Long Range RWD variant from 622 km to 661 km without any change in price, making it more practical for Indian buyers who want longer drives without worrying about frequent charging.
India currently has two Model Y variants – Standard Range RWD and Long Range RWD. The upgraded Long Range model follows the WLTP cycle, which provides a more realistic and stricter measurement compared to India’s MIDC standard. The EV continues to support fast charging up to 250 kW, adding up to 267 km of range in just 15 minutes, the same as the previous model.
Upgraded 84.2 kWh Battery Boosts Range and Efficiency While Retaining Performance – 0-100 km/h in 5.6 Seconds
Tesla originally equipped the Model Y with a 79 kWh battery pack. Now, the company has upgraded it to an 84.2 kWh pack with new LG-made high energy density cells, giving an extra 39 km range. The motor remains the same, delivering a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 201 km/h. The Standard Range RWD remains unchanged with a 500 km range, 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, max speed 201 km/h, and fast charging up to 175 kW.
Tesla Model Y Price, Availability, and Home Delivery Options Across India
The Model Y is priced at ₹59.89 lakh (ex-showroom) for Standard Range RWD and ₹67.89 lakh (ex-showroom) for Long Range RWD. Tesla sells it through dealerships in Mumbai and Delhi and also accepts online orders with home delivery across India, making it easier for buyers to get the EV without visiting a showroom.

The Model Y comes loaded with 19-inch Crossflow wheels, power tailgate, 15.4-inch front touchscreen, 8-inch rear touchscreen, ventilated and heated front seats, heated power-folding rear seats, five USB Type-C ports (65W output), and panoramic glass roof. Full-Self Driving (FSD) is available for an additional ₹6 lakh, enhancing convenience and safety.
