India’s passenger vehicle market remained largely steady in Q3 CY25 (July–September 2025), with total sales standing at 10,52,845 units, just a 0.32% decline compared to last year’s 10,56,178 units. Although overall growth was flat, several carmakers showed impressive momentum, while others faced a slight slowdown.
Maruti Suzuki Retains Its No.1 Spot, But Faces Slight Dip In Quarterly Sales
Maruti Suzuki continued to dominate the Indian car market, selling 4,01,875 units in Q3 2025. However, this was a decline of 5.55% year-on-year, down from 4,25,500 units in Q3 2024. Despite the drop, Maruti maintained a massive 38.17% market share, thanks to steady performers like Swift, Brezza, WagonR, and Baleno.
Mahindra Surpasses Tata Motors To Secure The Second Spot With Strong SUV Lineu
Mahindra & Mahindra climbed to second position with 1,45,503 units sold, registering a healthy 7.02% YoY growth. High demand for Scorpio N, XUV700, Thar, and XUV 3XO helped Mahindra strengthen its grip in the SUV segment, pushing its market share to nearly 13.8%.
Tata Motors Holds Strong At Third With Consistent Sales Growth Across Lineu
Tata Motors stayed close behind with 1,40,189 units, showing a solid 7.89% growth from last year. Popular models like Punch, Nexon, and Harrier continued to perform well, while Tata’s EV range further reinforced its position as a market leader in sustainable mobility.
Hyundai Slips To Fourth, While Toyota Gains With Hyryder, Hycross & Fortuner
Hyundai Motor India faced a slight decline, falling to fourth place with 1,39,521 units, marking a 6.76% drop YoY. In contrast, Toyota surged ahead with 85,550 units sold, a 4.43% growth, driven by strong demand for the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Innova Hycross, and Fortuner.
MG Motor and Skoda Deliver Record-Breaking Growth With Windsor EV and Kylaq SUV
Among the biggest gainers were MG Motor and Skoda. MG’s Windsor EV helped boost sales by 45.5% to 19,984 units, while Skoda recorded an incredible 109.9% surge, selling 17,161 units – thanks to the newly launched Kylaq compact SUV.
